Measuring the success of your meeting

The annual meeting and conference you have been planning over the last few months has concluded, but now you need to carry out an important post-meeting exercise – measuring the success of that meeting.

You might think you delivered your point well, however your attendees may see things differently, which is why collating feedback is vital to measuring the success of your meeting or conference.  Here are some top tips on assessing the success of your event.

Attendees are key
The first and best place to go when trying to measure the success of your meeting is contacting the attendees. You can e-mail attendees after the conference, although there is no guarantee they will respond time may warp their judgement, or you can ask them to fill out a questionnaire before they leave the meeting, which should lead to a higher volume of accurate results.

Utilise social media
Social media is an incredibly effective way to gauge the success of your meeting and conference. Serval weeks before your event starts create a hashtag on twitter or an event page on Facebook allowing delegates to share their thoughts and experiences providing you with feedback. Remember, it’s not just the volume of interest that is important, but also the quality of the messages.

Ask the professionals
Asking the venue’s opinion is also an effective method to gauge the success of your event. The venue will have hosted numerous meeting, conferences and events in the past and will know what to look out for in terms of prosperous events. They will also be able to tell you what, in their opinion, makes a successful meeting or conference for any future events you decide to host.
