Fizzy Cocktails for a Sparkling Winter

Whether it’s Christmas, New Year or just an excuse to enjoy a little tipple, winter is definitely the time for fizz. So we’ve put together a few fizzy cocktail ideas to help you get the party started…

Atomic Champagne Cocktail
You can’t beat a classic Champagne cocktail. Except, perhaps, when it’s time to amp up the tipsiness factor by adding a splash of vodka…

1 1/2 oz. Champagne
1 1/2 oz. brandy
1 1/2 oz. vodka
1 tsp. sherry

Stir the vodka, brandy and sherry together with ice, then strain into a cocktail glass and add the Champagne. Chin, chin.

Clementine Bellini
Could you get any more festive than clementines? Ignore the ice and sleet outside and get cosy with this charming and citrusy cocktail.

75cl bottle of chilled Prosecco
300g of clementines
6 tbsp Grand Marnier

Juice the clementines until you have about 300ml worth and mix it with the Grand Marnier. Pour into 8 champagne flutes and top up with Prosecco.

Blushing Mimosa
Mimosa is, of course, just a fancy and fashionable name for Buck’s Fizz. And this all-time classic with an added grenadine twist is perfect for Christmas morning or even a lazy New Year’s Day brunch.

1 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. orange juice
2 tbs. grenadine

Mix the two juices together and pour them 2/3 into a Champagne flute. Add the champagne and then top off with the grenadine.

French 75
A stylish and sophisticated variation on the pre-dinner glass of fizz, this is perfect for those gatherings where you want to impress.

5 oz. Champagne
2 oz. London dry gin
1/2 oz. lemon juice
1 tsp. superfine sugar
5 oz. Champagne

Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar together with ice. Strain into a long glass half-filled with ice and top up with the champagne.

Amaretto Fizz
With its warm and sweet marzipan notes, amaretto is the perfect flavour for the colder months. Add some bubbles and the almond-based Italian classic suddenly becomes rather playful.

Bottle of Prosecco
200ml Disaronno
300ml orange juice
Strip of orange zest

Mix the Disaronno with the orange juice and Prosecco. Add a strip of zest to eight Champagne flutes then pour in the cocktail.
