My Favourite Season

During the 4 ½ years I have worked at Elite Hotels, autumn is fast becoming my favourite season.  We are extremely fortunate to have an office on site at Ashdown Park Hotel, and travelling the 9 miles or so from nearby Crowborough, across the Ashdown Forest into work I get to see the changing seasons played out in 3D!

This time of year the shift from greens, to reds, to yellows and browns is as fascinating as it is rapid – the view changes on a daily basis.  And that’s without mentioning the deer and occasional stag who make an appearance around late October.

Aside from my journey into work (and the view from my office window, pictured above) I enjoy the season by taking my young family to local National Trust properties.  As long as we are wrapped up warm (with wellington boots and a change of clothes for those with a penchant for jumping in muddy puddles) we are set for anything.

As a family, our National Trust property of choice is Wakehurst Place, Ardingly.  There is so much to see and do for the whole family.  We’ve been there at least a dozen times but I don’t think we’ve seen 60% of what it has to offer yet……

Also nearby there is Sheffield Park Gardens, Batemans, Scotney Castle and Standen  – I’d recommend a visit to them all, especially at this time of year!
